Definitions
TERM | DEFINITION |
5/24 rule | Chase rule that limits any more than 5 new personal credit cards opened within a 24 month timeframe (from any card issuer). Business cards do not count toward this rule. |
2/3/4 rule | Bank of America rule that allows you to be approved for: – 2 new cards in a 2-month period – 3 new cards in a 12-month period – 4 new cards in a 24-month period |
3/12 rule | Bank of America rule that denies credit card approval if: – You have a Bank of America bank account, and have opened 7 credit cards within the last 12 months. – You don’t have a Bank of America bank account, and have opened 3 new credit cards in the last 12 months. |
