How to Earn and Redeem Bilt Cash Rewards: Points on Rent and More

New Bilt Card 2.0

If you’re new to Bilt Rewards or you still have questions about Bilt Cash vs spending tiers, start here.

The credit card perk ecosystem has a problem: you get a bunch of predefined credits (coupon books) you may or may not actually use. Food delivery credits too small to be useful. Retail credits that force you to buy a thing. Restaurant credits you can’t use in your area.

Bilt Cash takes a different approach. Instead of forcing specific redemptions on you, it gives you options—and one of those options happens to be the thing people have wanted forever: the ability to earn points on your monthly housing payments.

How Bilt Members Earn Bilt Cash

Let me back up. Bilt Cash isn’t replacing Bilt Points (you still earn those). Think of it more like a parallel currency that unlocks different kinds of value. You earn 4% Bilt Cash for every dollar spent on Bilt cards. Each Bilt card comes with Bilt Cash as a welcome bonus (Palladium card gives you $200 every year). And for every 25,000 Bilt points you earn, you’ll get $50 Bilt Cash.

The difference is in how you redeem. You can use Bilt Cash to unlock credits on things like groceries, rideshares, fitness classes, and travel. Or you can use it to unlock points on rent or mortgage payments that wouldn’t otherwise earn you anything. Or all of the above. Your call.

How to Use Bilt Cash: Maximizing Your Redemptions

The annual redemption math looks impressive on paper—over $4,500.

Here’s the thing though: if you’re using Bilt for your housing payment, focus on redeeming Bilt Cash for rent or mortgage points first. You get predictable value up to the amount of your housing payment. Whatever’s left over, then you start thinking about which credits actually fit your routine.

But some cardholders might skip housing payments entirely and just earn the 4% Bilt Cash on everyday spend. Why? The point accelerator redemption (+1X boost) could turn a flat-rate 2X card (Bilt Palladium) into a 3X card for every $5,000 in spend. You get $200 Bilt Cash annually just for having the card, and every $5,000 spent earns another $200 Bilt Cash—so you could run this cycle up to five times, getting 3X on up to $25,000 in annual spend.

Or you could lean into direct value. The $25 monthly dining credit works if you’re eating out at least once a month anyway (which, let’s be honest, you probably are). It won’t cover the full tab, but it’s a real discount on a meal you were already planning to have.

The other redemptions vary pretty widely. Some have low monthly thresholds that aren’t easy to track (GrubHub $10/month, Lyft $10/month, parking $5/month). Others might require spending you weren’t already doing—like Blacklane at $50/year when most rides cost $150+, or fitness classes if boutique workouts aren’t your thing.

Think of Bilt Cash less like a traditional rewards currency and more like a choose-your-own coupon book. The value is in having options that actually suit you rather than being stuck with predefined perks you’ll never touch.

Bilt Cash FAQs

How do I earn Bilt Cash?
You earn Bilt Cash (along with regular Bilt points) when you spend on any of the three Bilt credit cards. You’ll get 4% Bilt Cash per dollar spent. You’ll also get $50 in Bilt Cash automatically for every 25,000 Bilt Points you earn.

What’s the value of Bilt Cash compared to Bilt Points?
Bilt Cash redeems at a dollar-for-dollar value within Bilt’s redemption options, whereas Bilt Points vary in value depending on how you transfer or redeem them (typically valued highest when transferred to travel partners).

How do I earn points on rent with Bilt Cash?
By redeeming $30 in Bilt Cash, you unlock 1,000 points on your monthly rent or mortgage payment—up to 100% of your payment amount ($2,000 rent requires $60 Bilt Cash for 2,000 points).

When does Bilt Cash expire?
You can rollover up to $100 Bilt Cash from one year to the next. Anything above that, beyond December 31, will be lost.

Do I need a certain status tier to redeem Bilt Cash?
Most redemptions are available to all members, though some redemptions scale with status (like hotel credits and Blacklane rides). A few exclusive redemptions (like the point accelerator and Priority Pass guest credits) are limited to Obsidian and Palladium cardholders.

How do I redeem Bilt Cash?
Redemptions happen directly through the Bilt app. Specific redemption mechanics will be available once the program launches on February 1, 2026.
